Conservation Framing

Conservation framing focuses on using specific techniques and materials to preserve and protect the item being framed.  The two most harmful sources of damage to framed artwork are acid and ultra-violet light.

When artwork is in contact with acidic materials, the acid will migrate to the artwork causing acid burn.  To avoid this permanent damage, we use acid-free mats and acid-free backing boards.  We also use mounting techniques that are totally reversible and eliminate adhesives coming in contact with the artwork.
Ultra-violet light will cause framed items to fade and discolor.  Conservation glass blocks out 97% - 99% of ultra-violet light, protecting artwork from the irreversible damage.

No matter what you are framing, conservation framing will help to protect it for many years of enjoyment.
